A lovely old century home located within walking distance of downtown Sydney, Colby House offers guests luxurious facilities inside and out. Situated on a tree-lined street in the south end, guests are within walking distance of parks, shopping, and fine restaurants. Built in 1904, Colby House is accented with leaded glass windows, crown molding, bay windows, and a grand staircase leading guests to three beautifully decorated and appointed rooms (The Gabriel Room, The MacLellan Room, and The MacDonald Room) featuring exceptionally comfortable Queen beds, and lovely furnishings. Our quiet second floor landing gives guests an opportunity to utilize our computer center and reading area. Guests can unwind in our large first floor sitting room next to the traditional oak fireplace surround and over mantle and read or watch television. The focal point of Colby House is our veranda and garden. Over 100 ft of rest and relaxation awaits guests in every nook and corner. Beautiful flowers, plants and trees surround the grounds for guests to enjoy. Relax over a full breakfast in our spacious dining room before seeing the many nearby sights: the Sydney waterfront (including the Big Fiddle), the Historic District, Wentworth Park, the Fortress of Louisbourg, Baddeck and the Cabot Trail.
